Description of Resource

A Learning@Griffith organisation site accessible to all Bachelor of Education (Primary) students across 3 campuses. The site has aggregated information from a range of sources to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ for B ED (Primary) students. The site contains staff information, FAQs, study resources, student essentials, information for specific year students, campus specific information (updated by Academics), Orientation getting started guide (in mobile device format), XtraNormal video explaining the Student Charter, WIMBA classroom for 1st Year academic skills sessions and staff can email individuals to the entire program cohort.

Learning Strategy

The Griffith University Academic Plan (2011-2013) informed the development of the Bachelor of Education (Primary). The program has been designed around principles of pre-service teacher development and growth. The program develops capacities required by teachers working in the information age- a time of rapid change where education is recognized as playing an important role in society.

We adopted the Succeeding@Griffith Framework model that focuses on providing support for students at transition points throughout the full cycle of their student life. This very model has fused and fashioned the organisation site for the Bachelor of Education (Primary). The Bachelor of Education (Primary) has a designated year foci that follows the student lifecycle of Succeeding@griffith. While each year has a particular focus, the intention is to cumulatively and sequentially offer teaching and learning environments that will nurture independent, innovative and creative professionals. The organisation site focuses on Year 1 Sense of academic culture and sense of purpose. The site provides foundation information, key to teaching and learning at tertiary level and introduces education as a profession through previous student vignettes.
