Description

Media Wall displays content that is loaded into it of type video, flash movie or images. It then creates a navigation that allow the user to move through it at their own pace, and to go back if needed. At particular ‘keypoints’ that have been created, Media Wall displays textual content on the right hand side that gives context to the media being displayed. These can also include links to additional sites.

To make the tool more user friendly for academics, an administration for the tool is being developed where media elements can be dropped in, annotated and exported ready to be published.

Learning Strategy

Rather than having disparate resources, Media Wall groups content and gives context to it. Given to students to view prior to tutorials it allows them to move at their own pace and understand the work that is being done during class. When dealing with large concepts academics can break them down into reviewable steps which allow students to see each piece of the process. Add to this annotation and it makes viewing far more effective than simple PowerPoint slides where students have to make connections between information themselves.
